Laminate flooring is a composite decking that is made up of a chipboard base with an image layer and a transparent wear layer on top. However, many people do not know how to install laminate flooring on plywood professionally. Then let’s learn about the steps to install laminate flooring with A1 Plywood!
1. Setting
- Alternately pull planks from a number of different cartons at a time to achieve a random appearance. Tile-style laminate flooring is installed with 33% or 50% deviation according to a pattern, but laminate flooring is meant to be placed at random.
- This is a common DIY mistake! Always use the cut pieces from the end of each row to make the next row start plank and end joints at least 12” long (narrower boards can be less).
2. Establish
- Using a saw, you may need to remove blades on planks adjacent to the walls. This will make space for the pads and prevent overflow problems.
- In the left-to-right direction, install the planks vertically in a row while facing the starting wall. Once the length connection is established, lower the board into place and simply apply pressure by pressing the end down to lock it in place.
3. Put in Location
- Continue with this assembly method to add additional rows; once the floor has been sufficiently lowered, you should work on the newly installed laminate. Working on top of your starting rows, pull the planks towards you to position them before locking them in place.
- It is important that all joints fit snugly. If a joint is loose or if all edges are uneven with adjacent boards, you need to stop and reconnect.
- Cut the last row to size; if the cut is not straight, you can scribble. For easy note-taking, place the full boards directly on top of the most recently installed row, then take a piece of paper that is still the same width but maybe only 3-4 inches long and remove the blades.
- Then, with a pencil, slide the scrap along the wall, marking the board that sits on top of the last installed row. There’s no harm in numbering these boards, so don’t forget the order in which to install them once they’ve been cut to size; you will then cut these boards with your jigs or table saw.
- Depending on their size, you may need to mount them with a tow bar or crowbar.
4. Frequently asked Questions
4.1. Can Laminate Flooring be Installed on Plywood?
- There are two common types of laminate flooring installation: with and without. While glue-free is more popular for its ease of installation, glue creates a cushion between the planks, making it a good choice for indoor areas where spills are common.
- Consumers tend to lean towards glue-free floors because they can install them themselves and the floors are instantly walkable. These types of floors are called floating floors because they are not fastened to the sublayer. A liner, which is a layer of cork, foam, or rubber, is placed under the laminate to act as a sound barrier.
4.2. Can You Put Laminate Directly on Subfloor?
Laminate flooring should never be installed on subfloors made of carpet or cushions. In some cases, you can install your floor over an existing floor, but it is important to check before installation that it is the right material.
4.3. What if You Install Laminate Flooring without Underlayment?
- Without an underlay to add an extra layer between these wet subfloors and the subfloor, your laminate flooring can quickly become damp, warp, and mildew, damaging its overall integrity.
- Humidity over time can also break down the floor glue, causing the floor to begin to warp.
